Brief: Research a topic of your choice utilizing CoDesign. (Dr. Liz Sanders)
Location: The Ohio State University
Constraints: Utilize CoDesign methods to generate insights or a final product
Collaboration: Individual
Introduction:
As part of our 3rd year Design Research course taught by Dr. Liz Sanders, we were taught the basics of CoDesign (designing WITH clients, not FOR clients). Encouraged to explore a topic of interest, I decided to have a little fun and jump into the world of vacation planning - specifically, planning a trip to a place I'd recently visited: Walt Disney World.
The project focused on methods exploration and development with the goal of creating viable CoDesign sessions for participants to partake in. My proposed plan involved using several insights learned through data analysis to develop several "Must-Do Lists" for various age ranges of guests for different locations throughout the resort.

Lessons Learned:
We had an entire semester to learn about CoDesign under the direction of Dr. Liz Sanders, a pioneer of the field. I found the subject extremely interesting and helpful, and personally consider it one of the greatest ways to design with/for your audience to achieve solutions where everybody is happy.
Getting to do my individual project on a topic I could have fun with was an enjoyable process! Dr. Sanders and I worked together to make sure that my CoDesign methods were both adult and kid-friendly, one of the more challenging aspects of the project.
