Brief: Reimagine modern banking. (Huntington National Bank)
Location: The Ohio State University, Huntington National Bank
Constraints: None
Collaboration: Individual
Project Intro:
As part of the Industrial Design Senior Capstone, students were split into groups and paired with select partners to complete a provided prompt. Myself and classmates Olivia Doland, Easton Nguyen, and Danny Kraft were partnered with the digital interface team from Huntington Bank. Our prompt was to "reimagine modern banking," which was pretty broad (on purpose) and gave us lots of room to be creative.
The class was structured in two sections, research and then development. The research phase was the first half, the process behind what led me to designing my brief for the second half of this project! I have included the research portion and presentation on this page for continuity's sake.
My Capstone:
From my research, I developed the brief to reimagine the foreign currency exchange process to make it more convenient and streamlined for college students studying abroad. What came out of addressing this brief was the TravelReady™ Currency Package, a service that sets students up with all their spending gear before they go abroad. Students can order the package online via Huntington and pick it up on campus well before their departure for a much less stressful preparation experience!
My Deliverables:
I created several assets to bring this capstone to life. In addition to an appearance model, I also broke down how the system works, how the order form operates, and how this service is beneficial to all parties involved. Everything is summarized in my project video, project presentation, and process booklet. Enjoy!

Summary:
Starting this project from scratch in August and taking it all the way to completion in December has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I've grown so much as a designer, not only in confidence and creativity but also in terms of project management and professionalism. I learned how to keep pushing myself, even when I'm happy with a result, and how to constantly explore options even if one seems viable. I learned that time management is key, and that being on top of a to-do list is a great place to be!
This semester, design was all about finding the smallest of problems or inconveniences and doing whatever you can to make them better. I took a niche inconvenience and created a system to make it more streamlined. While the problem might have been tiny, the impact is great. It's been quite the ride!
